Benjamin secured a foundation for business and communications as a graduate of The Ohio State University. Settling in Greenwich Village in the early 1980ís, the Village is his home. Married with two grown children who were raised in Manhattan, he is firmly devoted to NYC living.
Benjamin's full time commitment to New York City Real Estate began in 1990. His impressive dedication was evident by securing a leadership role in a number of Coop and Condo conversions. After five years of tremendous insight converting rentals to Co-op or Condominium ownership, he became a Principal Broker/Partner at Barshay Brokerage Real Estate Group, LLC .
Benjaminís firm commitment to the industry has enabled him to be President of a residential Co-op Board for over ten years. He was a founding member of the Manhattan Associations of Realtors (MANAR) the local chapter to NAR. Benjamin was involved in MANARís initial growth and became a CRB Manager. At the same, he started his involvement with the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY). Seeing that REBNY was such a powerful trade group in NYC, he stepped up his participation by becoming involved in various committees at the Board. He saw a need to have a committee faithful to the voice of boutique firms at the Board. So, 14 years ago he founded the SFC Committee with over 150 member firms representing a strong voice at REBNY.
Currently, Benjamin is Co-Chair of the SFC and he was recently elected to the REBNYís Residential Board of Directors. He is also an Arbitrator at REBNY handling member transactional disputes. Additionally, he is a New York State Qualified Real Estate Instructor.
